However, some observers believed that the firm had begun to lose its appeal among employees due to some of its human resources (HR) policies.7 Though the HR division of Infosys had undertaken various initiatives, its Infosys Role and Career Enhancement (iRace), launched in June 20098, in particular, drew a lot of flak.

According to Infosys, iRace had the laudable objective of mapping positions with the experience and skill levels of the employees.9 However, the initiative led to rising employee activism as some of the employees felt that the changes initiated as part of iRace affected them adversely and disgruntled employees began expressing their frustration at public forums and social networking sites.10

It was reported that nearly 4,000 employees had resigned from Infosys in February 2010.11
